Care Guide

The essentials we cover with every new owner before pickup.

Shelter

A simple three-sided run-in shed (8×10 ft per cow) protects from wind, rain, and summer sun. Bed with straw or pine shavings; muck out weekly.

Feed

Free-choice grass hay year-round, fresh pasture in season, and a loose cattle mineral. Adults eat ~2% of body weight daily. Avoid lawn clippings and moldy hay.

Water

10–20 gallons of clean water per cow per day. Use a heated trough in winter to prevent freezing.

Fencing

4 ft woven wire or 4-strand electric (top wire hot at ~3 ft). Mini cows respect a fence once trained — walk them along it on day one.

Companionship

Cows are herd animals. Always keep at least two — a lone mini cow will stress, vocalize, and escape.

Vet & Hooves

Annual vaccinations (7-way + rabies), fecal check twice a year, and hoof trims every 6–12 months. We provide a full health binder at pickup.

FAQ

How big do miniature cows actually get?

Most of our mini cows mature between 32 and 44 inches at the shoulder and weigh 300–800 lb depending on breed. See the Size Guide tab for breed-by-breed details.

How much land do I need?
Plan on roughly half an acre to one acre per cow for comfortable grazing. With supplemental hay you can keep a pair on as little as a third of an acre.

Are mini cows good with kids and other pets?

Yes  every calf is bottle-fed and handled daily, so they’re calm, curious, and gentle. They typically get along well with dogs, goats, and horses once introduced slowly.

Do you deliver?

We offer climate-controlled nationwide delivery. Pricing depends on distance; a quote is included with every reservation.

What's included with my mini cow?
Full vet records, vaccination history, DNA registration paperwork, a starter bag of feed and minerals, and lifetime owner support from our team.
What's the deposit and reservation process?

A $500 non-refundable deposit holds your cow. The balance is due before pickup or delivery. We’ll send photo and video updates while you wait.

Can mini cows be milked?

Mini Jerseys produce 1–2 gallons per day, which is perfect for a family. Highlands and Herefords are primarily companion / beef breeds and aren’t typically milked.

Do they need horns trimmed or removed?

Highlands keep their iconic horns. We can disbud other breeds as calves on request  just let us know before reservation.
